Introduction of an electronic revenue collection system
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is hereby notifying its esteemed Customers, stakeholders and the general Public that, from 20th May, 2010 it will introduce electronic revenue collection system using SMART CARD. The new system is aimed at reducing risks of carrying cash and / of cheques all the way while visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Also the system is aimed at increasing efficiency through reducing unnecessary queues and delay at the gate before entering the Conservation Area.

POINT OF ISSUE AND POINT OF SALE (POI/POS):
For smoothening of the whole process of obtaining the Card known as "NGORONGORO CARD" NCAA will be having four POI/POS centres namely:

  1. NGAA Arusha information Centre located opposite Air Tanzania Corporation and near Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) Arusha Office.
  2. Lodoare Gate.
  3. Tourism Office at NCAA HQ - Ngorongoro Crater.
  4. Naabi Hill Gate.

However our main point of issue and point of Sale POI/POS will be at the Arusha Information Centre as many Tour Operator and tourists are coming to Ngorongoro through Arusha town.

The point of issue (POI) is the point whereby issuing of cards for visitors and staff will be done.  The point of Sale (POS) is the Component of the system dealing with the receiving of all payment of products and services defined by Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority Management.

CARD TYPES:
In the new system NGAA will be having eight (8) types of cards.  Entry to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is only upon producing of the card at the entrance gate or at the Point of Access (POA).  Types of the cards are as follows:

  1. CITIZEN CARD:
    This card will be issued to the citizens of the United Republic of Tanzania.  However for this purpose citizens means all citizens of East Africa Community (EAC)
  2. RESIDENT CARD:
    This card will be issued to the residents of Tanzania or other EAC residents.
  3. NON RESIDENT CARD:
    This card will be issued to the non residents of Tanzania and other EAC countries.
  4. CONCESSION CARD/ORGANIZED GROUP CARD:
    This card will be issued to the visitor or group of visitors, with an authority or special permit with reference number from the Conservator of Ngorongoro.  This card is aimed to cater for students, organized group, researchers or visitors who come for the purpose which will be having the prior approval by the Conservator.
  5. TOUR OPERATOR CARD:
    This card will be issued to tour operating companies.
  6. ANNUAL VEHICLE CARD:
    This card will be issued to the vehicle having the rights to enter the NCAA for a period of one year.
  7. ANNUAL PERSONAL CARD
    This card will be issued to the visitor to NCAA who can access the Ngorongoro Conservation Area for one year.
  8. STAFF CARD:
    This card will be issued to NCAA staff.

NCAA is once again assuring all stakeholders and the Public at large that the new system will be very much convenient to all parties concerned.
